My story begins in Australia, a vast continent surrounded by ocean.
Everyone knows Australia has amazing beaches but did you know you can ski there!
Tasmania is Australia's only island state, known for its pristine wilderness, mountains, and beautiful coastlines.
Home to unique wildlife including the iconic Tasmanian Devil - the world's largest surviving carnivorous marsupial, known for its powerful jaws and distinctive growl.
I grew up in Hobart with a small population and surrounded by nature.
The waters around Tasmania became my playground, where I developed a love for sailing.
Tasmania's rugged landscape provided the perfect backdrop for rock climbing adventures.
I always knew I wanted to be an engineer but I wasn't sure which type. After reading about Naval Architecture at the Australian Maritime College, I knew combining my love of the sea and engineering was the path for me.
At the Australian Maritime College, I studied naval architecture and maritime engineering, learning ship design through hands-on projects and developing skills in coding and 3D modeling.
After graduating, I wanted to work with ships that push the limits of what is possible. This lead me to a graduate job with the Australian Defence Force in Canberra, where I worked on various projects related to naval architecture and maritime engineering.
Working at Defence gave me hands-on experience conducting ship stability tests, analysing vessel hydrodynamics, and calculating vessel stability.
As part of my graduate program at Defence, I did a 6 month placement at Austal designing a trimaran. Austal is based in Perth, so I moved there.
That was a long drive, thanks for coming with dad!
I enjoyed working in the design office and right next to the shipyard at Austal.
After working at Austal, I started working for Intecsea. There I gained knowledge in Python, Orcaflex and hydrodynamic analysis.
After working on the analysis side for a couple of years, I wanted to gain offshore experience. I joined Fugro, where I worked as both a project engineer and an analysis engineer for IMR projects.
I really enjoyed working at Fugro, but my Norwegian girlfriend got a job in Oslo, so it was time to move to Norway for the next adventure.
I actually like watching movies on the plane 🍿.
I have been in Oslo since 2022 working for Nexans. First as a combined project and analysis engineer, then as the Marine Installation Analysis Lead.
And enjoying all that Norway and the rest of Europe has to offer.
Working in the office and offshore
And playing in the mountains
All year round
Thanks for joining me on this journey, I hope you enjoyed it. Back to home
